Summary

They are best friends and partners in crime, literally! Two deadly CIA agents, FDR and Tuck, fall in love with the same girl and decide to keep their friendship a secret from her. Both men sabotage each others dates with her and put tiny CIA cameras in her house to eves drop on her. Lauren seeks help from a close friend. Will she find out their secret? Will she be able to pick just one boy? Will their friendship stay intact?

The Review

This Means War is the movie of the year in my point of view. It has everything, romance, action, and comedy all equally balanced. I really liked this movie mainly because of the actors. Gorgeous, muscular, Chris Pine stars as FDR Foster, one of the CIA agents. Pine has it all, the looks, the muscles, and the charm! He plays the role of FDR perfectly; I couldn’t think of a better person than him. Reese Witherspoon plays Lauren just right; Lauren is a fun-loving girl and Witherspoon is a sweet girl all around. When the character Lauren has to be serious, Witherspoon is serious, when she needs to be dramatic, she can be dramatic! Witherspoon has everything that she needs to play the role of Lauren. The character Tuck is played by Tom Hardy. Tuck is FDR’s partner in crime that falls in love with Lauren too. Hardy plays the role of Tuck perfectly; the British cutie brings charm to the movie and without him, there wouldn’t be a plot!

Another thing I really enjoyed about this movie was the content, meaning what happened in the movie. The rating really says it all, PG-13 and I completely agree with that, this movie is one that I wouldn’t allow a young child to watch. The content would be too mature and, at points, too immature for them to comprehend. Along with that there are some inappropriate parts in the movie that a young child shouldn’t see. Overall, the comedy in the movie is just right for a teenager or an adult. The romance in the movie isn’t overpowering so it isn’t funny but it isn’t so subtle that it isn’t noticeable. While there was some profanity it wasn’t enough to say it was rude.

The scenery in this movie was absolutely perfect. The movie opened inHong Kongand it looked like it was actually filmed there. Later on in the movie you see FDR’s apartment and it looks just right for a rich, undercover, CIA, ladies man. Although This Means was filmed inVancouverit is supposed to take place in downtownLos Angeles. The movie really looks like it was filmed inLos Angeles, all the way down to the palm trees. When you see Lauren’s apartment it looks like an average downtown, expensive,Los Angelesapartment. It is big and spacious, the way an apartment would be in any big city. All of the places that the characters go are exactly the way they should be, I couldn’t have thought of anything better.

Final Thoughts

So the next time you are looking for a movie that has just enough romance, action, and comedy to be completely balanced, see This Means War. Out of all the movies I’ve been in 2012 so far this one is the best, and I’ve seen a lot of new movies this year. On a scale from one to ten I would most certainly give this movie a 9.

Best of Worst of 2011

I am a movie junkie, I love to watch movies all the time and one of my favorite movies from 2011 is Abduction. The main character in Abduction is Taylor Lautner who also is famous for playing the role of Jacob Black in the Twilight series. He is one of the reasons I loved this movie, even though I am ‘Team Edward’ I still think
Lautner is an adorable teen icon. I’m not much of an action person but this
movie definitely has it; along with some romance. As Lautner tries to find out
who he is he is caught up in some spies as he travels with the ‘girl of his
dreams’. It has enough romance and action to balance each other out. Neither of
them are overdone at all. This is a movie I would definitely watch again!

I love movies that make me cry, I don’t really know why, but I do, and one movie that is perfect to make any one cry is Soul Surfer. If you haven’t heard about it,
Soul Surfer is based on a true story. It’s about a girl named Bethany Hamilton
who was out surfing with her friend’s family one day and got her arm bitten off
by a shark. She had tried everything she could to get back out on the waves
again and had almost completely lost hope when her father had an idea, soon
Bethany was winning competitions and surfing her way to be famous. This is a
very touching movie that really makes you think about life. It is a great movie
to watch with your friends, your family, or even by yourself. But remember to
keep a pack of tissues nearby.

Once upon a time, in a land not so far away, were a girl and a beast. This beast was
actually pretty cute, but the girl? She was invisible to him. A witch saw how
he was treating people, badly, and decided to make him ugly for one year and if
he wasn’t able to find someone to live him for who he is then he was to stay
ugly forever. Sound familiar? I hope it does, you’ve probably seen the movie
Beauty and the Beast as a child, but there is a more modern version of it called
Beastly. This movie has some good life lessons in it; take the time to see yourself
for who you really are, don’t be afraid to step out of your comfort zone, and
most importantly, don’t judge a book by its cover. This movie is a romance
movie but you can also learn some things from it.

Who’s the best wizard of all time? Harry Potter of course! In 2011 the final movie of
the Harry Potter series hit the theatres. I have read all seven of the books
and have seen all of the movies. The last one by far is the best of them all!
In this movie Harry’s life is put on the line and his friends and the lives of
the people he loves are threatened he struggles to keep them all alive while
trying to defeat the Dark Lord Voldemort. This movie is more of an action movie
more than anything, even though I’m not much of an action movie person this
movie I could watch over and over.

My second favorite movie of 2011 is Breaking Dawn part I. It is the second to last movie in the Twilight series. If you are familiar with the other books and movies, Bella struggles to keep up with the supernatural world as she marries vampire, Edward Cullen and has a werewolf bestfriend, Jacob Black. Bella and Edward go on a gorgeous honeymoon that ends in disaster as Bella and Edward realize that she is carrying a half-human, half-vampire baby. The majority of the movie Bella is fighting to live as her baby kills her from the inside out all in less than the time a normal baby
grows. This movie is a real nail bitter, you never know what’s going to happen
next! (unless you’ve read the books!)

BAD

If I had to choose a movie that I wouldn’t recommend to someone else, which I’m doing, I would tell them to stray from Monte Carlo. The movie Monte Carlo has a great cast that work so well together but it’s more of an adult cast. The movie previews lead you to believe that it is a movie that teens would enjoy, but this movie
would be better suited for a younger kid, from the ages of 7-10. While I did
enjoy the movie it did not meet my expectations. I would not recommend this
movie to someone my age.

I don’t know about you but I do not like scary movies! Over the summer of 2011 I
was at a friend’s house and she had just got the movie “Insidious”. Since it
was her birthday party I agreed to watch it. I knew it wouldn’t be a good idea
but this was supposed to be the highlight of her party. Every time I watch a
scary movie it takes me months to recover, I sleep with tons of nightlights and
my TV is on. So if you don’t like scary movies I 100% do NOT recommend this
movie.

This next movie that was not of my list of favorites is Tower Heist. Tower Heist is more of an adult movie with some adult humor that kids about 17 and under wouldn’t
understand. The movie was okay, I wasn’t really able to keep up with the story
line when I watched it though. The movie was somewhat jumpy and certain parts didn’t make much sense. To me the movie was overall confusing and the ending kind of left you hanging. I wouldn’t recommend this movie to a younger person.

If there was a movie I would say no parent should let their kid watch, it would be Hall Pass. Hall Pass is about two women giving their husbands a “hall pass” in their
marriage, a week off from marriage in other words. This movie is rated R but I
still think that no one under 18 should watch this movie. I am only 13 and my
mother let me watch it, which she shouldn’t have. This movie is very
inappropriate and is loaded with adult humor that we kids shouldn’t even hear
until we are at least old enough to be married. If you aren’t old enough to
watch this movie, I strongly consider that you don’t watch it.

Sherlock Holmes, A Game of Shadows is an okay movie. It is rather confusing and is the kind of movie where you have to watch the first one to fully understand the second one, and I never watched the first one. Overall I would probably see this movie again, only after watching the first part. A few parts are extremely boring though, I was literally falling asleep in the movie theatre and so was my mom! The movie gets all exciting and action packed and then just stops and gets all boring with no point to it. A lot of things happened in the beginning that left you with questions and they
were never answered as the movie went on. It left you hanging with a lot of
confusion. I wouldn’t really recommend this to someone.

What I’m Thankful for This Year

I am thankful for several things this year. First, my mom is alive. A few months ago my mom was diagnosed with Thyroid cancer, she was treated and cured but just a few weeks ago my mom had to have surgery to see if she had breast cancer and the results came back positive. The doctors found it so early that she is already cured. Another reason I am thankful is that my dad quit chewing tobacco. For years now my brother and I have tried and tried again to get him to quit and in June he finally decided to quit and has been successful since. The last reason I am thankful is my cousin is alive. A few years ago my cousin Hailey was born. She was born three months early, she was supposed to be born in March, 2008 but instead she was born in December, 2007. The doctors didn’t think she was going to survive, she is lucky to be alive and although she is under the size of a regular 3-year-old (soon to be 4) she is still healthy. I am thankful for several things, my mom and cousin being alive, and my father quitting tobacco.

My Hero

My hero, and I know this may sound weird, but my hero is my mom. I honor my mom because she is a strong fighter. Earlier this year my mom got cancer, even though it was one of the most easily treated cancer’s she still fought and was cured. I would sacrifice a lot for my mom, pretty much everything. When my mom was only fifteen her mom died so my mother and I are very close. My mom is my everything, my shoulder to cry on, my diary, my best friend, and more. If I’m having a bad day and I need someone to talk to I can always go to her. She’s always there for me no matter what. Though my mother isn’t a veteran she is still my hero.

SSR Project Plot Analysis

Book Author: Stephenie Meyer

Plot Analysis

Setting: The book Twilight takes place in Forks, Washington. Forks is in the Olympia Peninsula and that is in northern Washingotn. It is always rainy and wet because it is so far up north. There are forests all over the place and there are some beaches in the area. It is cold pretty much all year round except every once in a while it is warm and sunny.

Characters: The protagonist in Twilight is Bella.  Page 450 — “I heard, as if from underwater, the final growl of the hunter. I could see, through the long tunnels my eyes had become, his dark shape coming toward me.” The antagonist is James because he is trying to kill her. Page 451 — “He was over me at once, his foot stepping down hard on my leg. I heard the sickening sound before I felt it. but then I did feel it, and I couldn’t hold back my scream of agony. I twisted up to reach for my leg, and he was standing over me, smiling.”

Conflict: Bella is an average human who goes to live with her father in rainy Forks, Washington and meets a family of vampires. She falls in love with one of the vampires named Edward Cullen. This is very dangerous because vampires can very easily kill humans and Edward is really attached to Bella and is addicted to the smell of her blood, and so is another vampire. She gets lured away from the Cullens by a really bad vampire named James. Bella could very easily be killed and she is almost killed and this is bad because she is pretty much the reason for Edwards existence and she would leave behind her parents and friends. Page 195 — “About three things I was positive. First, Edward was a vampire. Second, there was a part of him — and I didn’t know how dominant that part might be — that thirsted for my blood. And third, I was unconditionally and irrevocably in love with him.”

Climax: The climax occurs when Bella is about to be killed. Edward and his family come and save her. Edward and his brothers, Emmett and Jasper, kill James and burn the peices. Edward then has to suck the poison out of Bella because James bit her and vampire venom is spreading through her veins. Page 454 — “‘He bit her.’ Carlisle’s voice was no longer calm, it was appalled. I heard Edward catch his breath in horror. ‘Edward you have to do it.’ … ‘No!’ he bellowed. … ‘See if you can suck the venom back out. The wound is fairly clean.'”

Resolution: Edward and his family take Bella to the hospital and she has to stay there for a while to recover. After she recovers everything goes back to normal and Edward takes Bella to prom. Everything is solved and Bella and Edward go back to living together in peace. Page 498 — “‘Look,’ I said, ‘I love you more than everything else in the world combined. Isn’t that enough?’ ‘Yes it is enough,’ he answered smiling. ‘Enough for forever.'”

SSR Project: The Main Character

Book Title: Twilight

Book Author: Stephenie Meyer

Number of pages: 498

Protagonist: Bella

A. External Characteristics

The main character, Bella, is a very clumsy human. She always trips and stumbles a lot. I personally think she is pretty; she has long brown hair and brown eyes. She is rather thin and not too tall but not short either. She wears average clothing for living in the Olympic Peninsula, she wears jeans and long sleeve t-shirts sometimes short sleeves when the weather is rarely nice. You can tell she is shy just by how she presents herself, she doesn’t have a good way of showing how she feels. Bella is an average seventeen year old girl living in Forks Washington.

B. Internal Characteristics

Relentless

p. 190 – “‘It’s wrong. It’s not safe. I’m dangerous, Bella – please, grasp that.’ ‘No.’ I tried very hard not to look like a sulky child. ‘I’m serious,’ he growled. ‘So am I. I told you, it doesn’t matter to me what you are. It’s too late.’” Edward is repeatedly telling Bella he is dangerous but she doesn’t care and she isn’t changing her mind about him.

p. 472 – “‘Yes, you are the reason.’ I frowned. ‘The reason I’m here – alive.’ ‘Barely.’ His voice was just a whisper. ‘Covered in gauze and plaster and hardly able to move.’ ‘I wasn’t referring to my most recent near-death experience,’ I said, growing irritated. ‘I was thinking of the others – you take your pick. If it weren’t for you I would be rotting away in the Forks cemetery.’” Bella is not giving up that she will win the argument that she is alive because of Edward even though he is arguing.

Stubborn

p. 104 – “‘It’s open,’ was all he responded. He got in the driver’s side. ‘I am perfectly capable of driving myself home!’ … ‘Get in Bella.’ I didn’t answer. I was mentally calculating my chances of reaching the truck before he could catch me.” She didn’t think she needed him to drive her home and she wasn’t going to let him win the argument.

p. 475 – “‘Look, that’s not an issue either,’ I finally muttered; my voice was always unconvincing when I lied. ‘Renee has always made the choices that work for her – she’d want me to do the same. And Charlie’s resilient, he’s used to being on his own. I can’t take care of them forever. I have my own life to live.’ ‘Exactly,’ he snapped. ‘And I won’t end it for you.’ ‘If your waiting for me to be on my deathbed, I’ve got news for you! I was just there!’” Bella is trying to tell Edward that nothing will be different if she gets turned into a vampire and she won’t have anything to worry about and she won’t be leaving anything behind.

Embarrassed

p.15 — “I took the slip up to the teacher, a tall, balding man whose desk had a nameplate identifying him as Mr. Mason. He gawked at me when he said my name – not an encouraging response – and of course I flushed tomato red.” It is her first day and everyone was waiting for her to come and the teacher was amazed to see her and it made her embarrassed.

p. 345 / 346 – “I struggled to free myself, but Edward merely readjusted me so that I was somewhat more conventionally seated on his lap. I could see it wasAlice, then, and Jasper behind her in the doorway. My cheeks burned, but Edward seemed at ease.” Edward sat Bella on his lap and she was embarrassed that she was sitting like that when his brother and sister entered the room.

Caring

p. 31 – “Last night I’d discovered that Charlie couldn’t cook much besides fried eggs and bacon. So I requested that I be assigned kitchen detail for the duration of my stay.” Bella’s father cannot cook, at all, so she wants to cook dinner so that they both have good food to eat.

p. 421 – “I thought about calling Charlie, but I wasn’t sure if I should be home by now or not.” She feels guilty for leaving Charlie without much of an excuse and with no idea of where she is and she cares too much about her father.

Top 5 Candies

Sweetarts- My number five favorite candy is Sweetarts. who isn’t a sweetheart for some Sweetarts? Sweetarts are small candies that are sour (to me) and are all different flavors. They are a Wonka product; Wonka makes a lot of non chocolate candies. I love the taste of Sweetarts and how the sourness of them dances on your tongue and in your mouth. Sweetarts have been my favorites since I was a little kid, what little kid doesn’t like sour candies?

Runts- Runts? ‘What are Runts?’ you might ask, Runts are little hard candies that are shaped like fruit and taste like fruit too. The different shapes and flavors are banana, orange, grape, strawberry, and green apple. They are all shaped different and every shape represents the flavor of the candy. Once you get past the fruity flavoring there is the candy part on the inside that is all the sugar and it is chewable and sour. I love all the different flavors of the Runts.

Bottle Caps- My third favorite candy is Bottle Caps, I love soda and I love candy so what not make soda flavored candy? All I know about how it was made is that the creator is Wonka, that shouldn’t be surprising! Wonka makes all kinds of crazy candies and Bottle Caps are one of my favorites. I love the soda taste that the bottle caps have and I love all the different flavors there are. This candy really earns this number three spot.

3 Musketeers- The 3 Musketeers candy comes in a close second on my top five candies list. The Mars Candy Company made the 3 Musketeers 75 years ago, using the name because of its original ingredients; chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry. I love 3 Musketeers because the fluffy nougat covered in chocolate. It all seems to melt in your mouth when you eat it. If you think this should be my number one, just wait until you see what it is.

Kit-Kat- My number one favorite candy is the Kit-Kat. It was originally made and sold by Rowntree Products but in 1988 the company was purchased by Nestle who works with Hershey. The reason Kit-Kat is my number one candy is because I love chocolate, if I could marry chocolate I probably would. I also like how it is crunchy, a crunchy wafer with chocolate coating?!? YUM! Kit-Kat only has one competitor for the number one spot.

Worst 5 Songs

1.) On my list of bad songs the worst it Barbie Girl by Auqa. The people that wrote this song were probably in their mid twenties, what twenty year old writes a song about being a barbie? I think it’s a totally weird song and although it has a kind of good beat it doesn’t have very good words.

2.) Friday by Rebecca Black is utterly terrible. It has a pretty good beat to it and all but this girl has no voice at all, she is probably the worst singer I have ever heard. In the song it says the days of the week, I’m pretty sure I know the days of the week by now. (no offense if you like her)

3.) Ready for another really bad song? I Whip My Hair by Willow Smith, I know Willow was only about 11-years-old when she wrote this song but still who cares if you whip your hair? Certainly not me, the lyrics aren’t all that good either pretty much all she says in the song is “I whip my hair back and forth.” Although she is young and this is her first song it could have been better.

4.) Lady Gaga has plenty of great songs but one mistake was Poker Face. It has a good beat but the lyrics don’t have much meaning. For those of you who don’t know a poker face is where you hide your emotions so no one can tell what your feeling. In the song she is saying how she can keep a poker face but what does it matter? I can keep a poker face but I don’t go making a song about it. To me it could have been better.

5.) Lastly, Last Friday Night is a newer song by Katy Perry that has made its way to the playlists of many teenagers, except for mine. I personally love Katy Perry but this last song has not appealed to me. All she talks about in the song is how she had a little too much to drink and she can’t remember what happened the night before. It’s not a very good influence to teens for a celebrity to talk about drinking because if teens look up to her and like her they will probably do it too.

If You Were To Visit Pennsylvania

  1. One of the first places you should visit when coming to Pennsylvania is the Gettysburg Battlefield. All over the world people know Gettysburg as a famous American Civil War battle spot. We even had a president give a famous speech called the Gettysburg Address right here in Gettysburg. Why not visit one of the most historical places in America if you live in it? You might learn something new here in your stay. I know you should definitely come visit this historical town.
  2. While you’re in Gettysburg why not stay overnight and go on a ghost tour? Make sure you have a strong stomach so you can endure all that the tour has to offer. Why else would you go to a battlefield at night, to hear the ghost stories of course! It’s a lot of fun to go through the haunted alleyways of Gettysburg with your only light being a candle. If you don’t believe in ghosts you sure will after that!
  3. In your stay here you definitely have to come to Hershey Park, it is an amusement park with tons of rides that are “Sooper Dooper” fun! There is more to do in Hershey then go into the park, you can go into Chocolate World and see how the world famous Hershey Chocolate is made. In chocolate world you can go one the chocolate world you can go through a tour and see step by step how all your favorite candies are made. If you are in the park there are tons of rides to choose from and they are all fun and exciting. If you come to Hershey Pa, make sure you plan enough time to see everything!
  4. Do you remember being a kid and coloring with crayons, markers, colored pencils, etc.? If you do you probably used Crayola crayons, pencils, and markers. Have you ever wondered how they make them? Well wonder no more! You can visit the Crayola Factory in eastern PA, around the New Jersey border. Go see how all of your old crayons and markers and colored pencils were made.
  5. After going to Hershey Park, Gettysburg, and the Crayola Factory why not go cool off at CodorusState Park. It is a huge park with a huge lake where you can swim, fish, and even use a motorboat or sailboat. Take a day off and go have a picnic then burn off all those calories by hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, or disc golfing. Plan a fun relaxing day at Codorus and bring some family and friends, too. It could be a nice, exciting way to end a nice stay in Pennsylvania.

My Digital Footprint

I looked up my name in Google for my digital footprint and found nothing, however, I looked up my mom’s name and this is what I found. I found the years my mother was in high school (1985-1989). I also found some private information like where I live, I’m not so happy that my mothers name popped up along with where we live because that means any one could find us and that isn’t safe. So, I’m not happy with my findings in my mom’s name.

Also in looking for my parent’s names I found some things that I don’t believe should be on the internet. I was able to see where my house is directly located and my phone number. I feel this is unsafe because in the things I found looking up my parents names, of course they were associated with each other, but I feel it isn’t safe. Any one could look up my parents and find out where I live and that is a scary thought. I feel the information I found should be kept private.
